Closed Door

Letra

[Verse 1] You left your jacket on the back of my chair Sleeve still folded like you might come back here I keep the porch light off, the hallway dim But every passing car makes me look again [Pre-Chorus] I tell my friends I’m doing fine Then lose an hour to the same old line [Chorus] I keep your name folded under my tongue Say I’m moving on, but I’m not that strong When the room gets quiet, the old hurt starts You’re a closed door with a key to my heart [Verse 2] Found your note in a paperback, page forty-two A grocery list, then “don’t forget me and you” I laughed once, then the laugh went thin Some goodbyes don’t know when to end [Pre-Chorus] I tell my friends I’m doing fine Then lose an hour to the same old line [Chorus] I keep your name folded under my tongue Say I’m moving on, but I’m not that strong When the room gets quiet, the old hurt starts You’re a closed door with a key to my heart [Bridge] If you call, I might answer too soon If you don’t, I’ll make peace with the room I can miss what we had and still let it go I’m learning that slowly, more than you know [Final Chorus] I keep your name folded under my tongue But tonight I can breathe when the day is done When the room gets quiet, I let it be You’re a closed door, and I’m finding the key [Outro] Your jacket’s still there, but I’m leaving it be
