Leave the Porch Light On for

Låttext

[Verse 1] You left your blue mug by the sink Beside the note about the rain I read it while the kettle clicked And watched the window blur again [Pre-Chorus] The little things keep taking up The spaces we had meant to clear [Chorus] So leave the porch light on for me I know the road, I know the way I’ll bring the keys and the old receipts And all the words I couldn’t say When morning finds us, let it find Two open chairs, the same old tea Leave the porch light on for me [Verse 2] Your garden’s leaning toward the fence The rosemary has outgrown its tin I trimmed it back with kitchen shears And saved a sprig to tuck you in [Pre-Chorus] The ordinary holds on tight Long after plans have disappeared [Chorus] So leave the porch light on for me I know the road, I know the way I’ll bring the keys and the old receipts And all the words I couldn’t say When morning finds us, let it find Two open chairs, the same old tea Leave the porch light on for me [Bridge] We don’t have to solve it all We don’t have to name the years Just make a little room beside you I can meet you there [Final Chorus] So leave the porch light on for me I know the road, I know the way I’ll bring the keys and the old receipts And all the words I couldn’t say When morning finds us, let it find Two open chairs, the same old tea Leave the porch light on for me Leave the porch light on for me [Outro] The kettle clicks, the window clears I’m almost there
