Here's to Chew

Songtext

[Verse 1] Chew's fifty-five, got a dent in his hat Keeps his keys in the freezer, swears there's sense in that He walks in the kitchen, forgets why he's there Then tells the old dog, “You look like you care” [Chorus] Oh, Chew, what’s going on in your head? You came for a sandwich and came back with bread Fifty-five candles, one wish to pursue: A little more thinking for our friend Chew [Verse 2] He bought a new watch, wore it over his sleeve Asked it for directions, then forgot to leave He waves at the mirror, says, “Good to see you” That’s the kind of day in the world of Chew [Chorus] Oh, Chew, what’s going on in your head? You came for a sandwich and came back with bread Fifty-five candles, one wish to pursue: A little more thinking for our friend Chew [Bridge] But when the old truck won’t start in the rain Chew’s there beside you, turning the chain No grand plan, no clever debut Just a big-hearted pal—and we’re glad it’s Chew [Guitar Solo] [Final Chorus] Oh, Chew, what’s going on in your head? You came for a sandwich and came back with bread Fifty-five candles, raise up a brew Here’s to the big-hearted, one-and-only Chew! [Outro] Here’s to Chew! Happy birthday, Chew!
