Tom Built a Trampoline

Sanoitukset

[Verse 1] Tom spread the parts on the lawn at noon A picture-book promise and a box of doom Six bent poles, a bag of rings And a sheet that swore it had everything He found the wrench, then lost the page The sun climbed up like it knew his rage [Chorus] Tom, hold tight, don’t let that frame go down One more spring and you’ll be king of the backyard town You’ve got one foot planted, one hand in the air Tom’s building a trampoline, if he can get it there [Verse 2] The legs leaned left, the circle went square A neighbor called, “You sure that’s safe out there?” Tom turned the diagram upside down Then spun the whole contraption around He hooked one spring, it snapped back fast Put a red welt right across his grasp [Chorus] Tom, hold tight, don’t let that frame go down One more spring and you’ll be king of the backyard town You’ve got one foot planted, one hand in the air Tom’s building a trampoline, if he can get it there [Bridge] He took a breath, wiped the dust from his brow “Not quitting now. I’ve come too far now.” The last hook caught, the black mat pulled tight The whole round frame stood up right [Guitar Solo] [Final Chorus] Tom, stand tall, look what you made stand round That spring-loaded kingdom’s on solid ground The kids came running, the dog took a stare Tom built a trampoline—and he’s not going up there! [Outro] He set down the wrench, stepped back with care Tom built a trampoline. He’ll let the kids test it there.
