Take It Easy, Antoinette

מילים

[Verse 1] Antoinette gets up, says, “Mercy, what a day!” Her back has got a story and her knees have things to say. A crackle in the left one, a pop across the right, She takes one careful step and gives the room a fright. [Chorus] Antoinette, take it easy, let the whole house know, Every little creak and crack has got its own solo. From her hips down to her heels, she’s making quite a sound, But she keeps on moving, feet a-shuffling round. [Verse 2] Her head is sore, her legs complain, her backside’s feeling tender, She laughs and says, “I’m still the queen, so somebody get the blender!” The floorboards hear her coming; they announce her down the hall, Then she pauses, takes a breath, and waves hello to all. [Chorus] Antoinette, take it easy, let the whole house know, Every little creak and crack has got its own solo. From her hips down to her heels, she’s making quite a sound, But she keeps on moving, feet a-shuffling round. [Bridge] A little rest, a glass of water, a cushion for the chair, A friend beside her saying, “You don’t have to rush nowhere.” If the aches keep hanging on, get someone wise to see— And let the choir remind her: kindness starts with me. [Final Chorus] Antoinette, take it easy, let the whole house know, Every little creak and crack has got its own solo. From her hips down to her heels, she’s making quite a sound, Still loved, still laughing, still shuffling round! [Outro] Take it easy, Antoinette! We’re right here with you.
