Happy Birthday, Damaris!

מילים

[Verse 1] Three years after Jimmy you arrived, the baby of the eight, Youngest of the bunch, with a smile that wouldn’t wait. Mom would have sold the house just to move back close to you, Said the little one still needed someone looking after too. Blue was always your color, hydrangeas on the table, Butterflies and elephants in every story you’d enable. And long before the rest of us remembered anyone’s day, You were the first one calling just to say. [Chorus] Happy birthday, Damaris, fifty years around the sun, The one who holds the family like the youngest always does. From church translation days to Italy on your mind, You love your daughter Eliana with a heart so kind. So we raise a glass in blue, like the sky that you adore, Happy birthday, little sister—we couldn’t ask for more. [Verse 2] You used to stand between the brothers, sisters, and the Word, Turning Spanish into English so the whole room could be heard. Now your own girl looks at you the way we all once did, And the calendar alarm in your heart still never skips a kid. Fifty years of showing up, of loving without end, The baby of the family who became everyone’s friend. So tonight we sing it back to you the way you always start, With a simple, early “happy birthday” from the heart. [Bridge] Elephants remember, butterflies take flight, Hydrangeas bloom in blue on this your fiftieth night. Youngest of the eight, yet the first to make us smile, We love you, Damaris, and we’ll keep loving you a while. [Outro] Happy birthday… happy birthday… Little sister, we love you.
