They came without banners. No names. No songs. Just boots in mud and silence loud enough to crack heaven. The earth held its breath. The sky turned its face. And the old things in the deep stirred. ⸻ (II) We had laws once. Fire for warmth. Steel for tools. Now steel eats bone, and fire dances in the screams. They don’t speak. They don’t pray.
