Rivers Edge

Letra

[Verse 1] Down in Pandy by the river’s bend, We came for lunch and stayed till ten. The menu said “a little bite”— A pie arrived the size of a life raft. The gravy wore a glossy crown, The chips could hold the table down. I asked the lad, “Is this for two?” He said, “If one of you’s a horse, that’ll do.” [Chorus] At the Rivers Edge, come hungry, leave amazed, The plates are piled so high they need their own parade. The river rolls along, the regulars all sing, And somehow there’s still room for one more pudding thing! Oh, Rivers Edge, you’ve got us in your grasp— We came for just a pint; we’re leaving with a packed-up pasty stash! [Verse 2] The welcome’s warm, the chairs are snug, The dog by the bar’s made friends with everyone. A quiz team argues over “Spain,” While someone’s chips go missing again. The landlord grins, “You’ll want dessert.” I said, “I’m full.” He said, “That’s not a word.” Then sticky toffee hit the table— My belt gave up. It did what it was able. [Chorus] At the Rivers Edge, come hungry, leave amazed, The plates are piled so high they need their own parade. The river rolls along, the regulars all sing, And somehow there’s still room for one more pudding thing! Oh, Rivers Edge, you’ve got us in your grasp— We came for just a pint; we’re leaving with a packed-up pasty stash! [Bridge] If the river’s running fast tonight, We’ll wave our chips and steer alright. No boat, no map, no grand escape— Just one more round and a slice of cake! [Final Chorus] At the Rivers Edge, come hungry, leave amazed, The plates are piled so high they need their own parade. The river rolls along, the whole room joins the sing, And somehow there’s still room for one more pudding thing! Oh, Rivers Edge, we’ll be back before too long— In Pandy, even leftovers get a chorus and a song! [Outro] One more chip? All right, then— We’ll be back again!
