In the depths of the megalopolises, where light struggles to pierce through,
A world of darkness and despair is hidden.
This is where misery has made its home,
Weaving its web of poverty and suffering around those abandoned by society.

Let's take the example of Tony, an 18-year-old young man,
Born and raised in the most deprived neighborhoods of the city.
From a very young age, he has been confronted with the harsh reality of survival.
His mother, a single woman exhausted by the ups and downs of life,
Had to fight to feed her family, chaining one precarious odd job after another.
As for his father, he abandoned them years ago,
Sinking into alcoholism and drug addiction.

Tony quickly understood that to get out of this, he would have to fend for himself.
Unfortunately, opportunities were scarce in his environment.
So, driven by necessity, he ended up joining a street gang,
Letting himself be drawn into a spiral of violence and crime.

The days went by, punctuated by beatings, thefts, and all kinds of trafficking.
Tony learned to harden himself, to trust no one,
To consider violence as a means of survival.
His child's soul gradually faded away,
Replaced by a cold gaze and an unwavering determination to find his place.

But deep inside, a small flame still remained,
A glimmer of hope that pushed him to dream of a better future.
Unfortunately, the few opportunities that presented themselves were out of reach,
Swallowed up by the expenses of a life of misery.

Tony is just one among many, a face among the millions of human beings,
Condemned to live in the shadows, deprived of the most basic rights and aspirations.
This is the price to pay for a world where inequalities are widening,
Where compassion gives way to the lure of gain.

Yet, behind each of these faces lies a story, a soul broken by the trials of life.
Tony could have been any one of us, if only fate had not been so cruel.
Perhaps one day, society will reach out to these lost children,
Offering them a chance to escape this vicious circle.
Until then, misery will continue to reign, and crime to spread,
Like a cancerous tumor at the heart of our cities.
