Wolf of holy determination

Letra

[Verse 1] I keep a worn-out collar beneath my bed, A silver moon stitched where the old thread bled. They say, “Hans, come back, that sky isn’t real,” But I’ve seen a wild blue no cage can conceal. I walk through the winter with dust in my shoes, Carrying a promise I never can lose. When the church bells tremble and the cold winds call, I hear four paws running beyond every wall. [Pre-Chorus] They can laugh at the road, They can bury the flame, But a heart born for freedom Still remembers its name. [Chorus] I’ll be a wolf in heaven, where the open fields run wide, With a silver river shining and no sorrow left to hide. If I wake in another body, if I lose this face again, I’ll keep walking toward the sunrise till I find my home beyond. I’ll be a wolf in heaven, and I’ll be free in the end. [Verse 2] Maybe I’ll rise as a child with a tail, Or a two-legged dream with a moon in its trail. Maybe a shape stitched from human and beast, Still I’ll know that old hunger, still I’ll search for the peace. Hans says, “You die once, and the story is done,” But I’ve died in a thousand ways beneath a thousand suns. Each life leaves a scar, each breath starts anew, And the wolf in my chest keeps pulling me through. [Pre-Chorus] Let the grave close its door, Let the years turn to dust, Faith is a match in the rain, And it still burns for us. [Bridge] If heaven is only a story, then let me be brave in the telling, Let every goodbye be a doorway, not a bell for the failing. I won’t chase the darkness—I’ll wait for my hour, With my heart still beating beneath rain and flowers. And when the last road opens, when the earthly chains fall, I’ll hear a pack cry softly, and I’ll answer it all. [Outro] So tell them I’m still hoping, though my eyes are full of rain, The road may twist through lifetimes, but I’ll know the way. No form can hold forever what the faithful heart defends— I’ll be a wolf in heaven, and I’ll be free in the end.
