The Lantern Remembers

Songtekst

[Verse 1: Female] Snow settles softly on the blue orchard gate, A clock in the chapel has forgotten the date. I carry one candle through the glasswinter air, And every small footprint is answered by a pair. [Verse 2: Male] I waited where the fir trees bend over the stream, With a key made of silver and a map from a dream. Your red woolen ribbon was caught in the snow; I knew by its turning which way I should go. [Pre-Chorus: Duet] The old house is listening, The long hall is wide; Two names in the snowfall, One door left untied. [Chorus: Duet] Come through the winter, come through the blue, The lantern remembers the road back to you. Though morning may scatter the spell from the air, I’ll find you again by the thread that we share. [Verse 3: Female] The ballroom is empty, the portraits look kind, A rose in a teacup has opened in time. I leave you a note on the frost-covered pane: “Keep one little wonder, and I’ll come again.” [Bridge: Male, then Duet] If the moon loses its way behind the hill, If the bells fall silent and the world stands still— I will keep the door unlatched, I will keep the flame, And the snow will learn the sound of your name. [Final Chorus: Duet] Come through the winter, come through the blue, The lantern remembers the road back to you. When daybreak unravels the silver we share, I’ll find you again by the thread that we share. [Outro: Duet] One candle, two shadows, One path through the white; The house keeps our secret And carries it light.
