Where the Snow Falls Slow

Songtekst

[Verse 1: Female] You left your mitten by the gate, Red wool against the winter white. I held it while the village slept, And watched the snow erase your tracks. [Verse 2: Male] I found your ribbon in the pine, A blue thread caught upon a thorn. The moon had laid a silver road Across the fields we crossed at dawn. [Pre-Chorus: Duet] If we could borrow one more hour, Before the morning finds us here, I’d meet you where the fir trees bow And tell you what I couldn’t say. [Chorus: Duet] Come dance with me where the snow falls slow, Where every step leaves room for two. Though winter turns the old path strange, I’ll know your hand; you’ll know mine too. Come dance with me till the pale sky shows, Till the last small flakes drift out of view. [Verse 3: Female] The chapel clock forgot to chime, The frozen pond held still and clear. You smiled as if the years were kind, And brushed a snowflake from my hair. [Bridge: Male, then Female] I can’t command the dawn to wait, Or keep the thaw from reaching spring. [Female] But in this hush, your name remains, A little bird beneath my wing. [Final Chorus: Duet] Come dance with me where the snow falls slow, Where every step leaves room for two. Though winter turns the old path strange, I’ll know your hand; you’ll know mine too. Come dance with me till the pale sky shows, Till the last small flakes drift out of view. [Outro: Duet, soft] Your mitten rests beside the gate, The morning comes; I keep the blue.
