Tuesdays and Thursdays

Songtekst

[Verse 1] The intercom is saying we are closing I'm pushing carts across the parking lot Your apron's in my locker, still been folded Beside a carton of a cake we bought I walked the bread aisle slow, the way you taught me The day-old loaves are cheaper after nine The freezer hums the way it did when you'd come find me We'd split a soda in the checkout line [Chorus] I'm gonna miss the little things the most The half-price strawberries and burnt birthday toast The way you'd say my name across the aisle I'll miss the way you smiled I'm gonna miss the little things [Verse 2] You dropped the candles, laughed and called it ruined We scraped the frosting off and ate it anyway September light was thin across the linoleum You said the best mistakes are the ones you save The manager still leaves your schedule posted Tuesdays and Thursdays, four to nine Somebody else will take the shift you always wanted And I'll pretend that I don't mind [Chorus] I'm gonna miss the little things the most The half-price strawberries and burnt birthday toast The way you'd say my name across the aisle I'll miss the way you smiled I'm gonna miss the little things [Bridge] Maybe someday in a bigger city You'll smell something sweet and think of me And not the smoke, not the mess, just the candles Just the candles [Chorus] I'm gonna miss the little things the most Half-price strawberries and burnt birthday toast The way you said my name across the aisle I'll miss the way you smiled I'm gonna miss the little things I'm gonna miss the little things
