Put It in 2 East

Şarkı Sözleri

[Verse 1] Jeremy Sawals rolls the van through the yard, Past the crews and the crossings, taking his job real hard. He circles the train operators like he’s running the show, With a pocket full of answers and nowhere to go. [Pre-Chorus] He’s got a plan for every move, a rule for every track, But when the switches start to matter, he’s just guessing at the map. [Chorus] “Put it in 2 East!” Jeremy calls out loud, Like he’s got the whole railroad figured out somehow. He talks like a foreman, but the truth rolls in: He don’t know switching from a handcar’s wheel again. “Put it in 2 East!”—that’s his favorite decree, Jeremy’s got an answer for everything… apparently. [Verse 2] He buys the loudest Yokohamas he can find, They rumble through the parking lot and rattle every sign. Then he points at the SD 70 screens and shakes his head, “Those things need fixed,” is what Jeremy said. [Pre-Chorus] He’s got a theory for the signals and a lecture for the crew, But ask him how the switch works and he’ll change the subject, too. [Bridge] The tires bark, the van door slams, He’s pointing at a screen with both hands. The crew just smiles and lets him say his piece— Then checks the switch with somebody who knows the keys. [Final Chorus] “Put it in 2 East!” Jeremy calls out loud, His Yokohamas shaking every window in the crowd. He says those SD 70 screens need fixing again, While the operators quietly get the work done in the end. “Put it in 2 East!”—he’ll announce it with glee, Jeremy knows everything… just ask Jeremy! [Outro] Van rolls on, tires roar, “Two East!” echoes ’cross the yard once more.
