Three Country Hearts

Lirik

[Verse 1] Hootie met Eric by the county fair gate Both were laughing while they waited for a plate Chew rolled up wearing boots two sizes too wide Said, “Room for one more?” and hopped inside [Pre-Chorus] The porch swing squeaked, the kettle sang A screen door rattled with a bang Three hearts grinned at the old moon’s cue And nobody knew what the night might do [Chorus] Hootie made love with Eric and Chew With a borrowed quilt and a curtain askew They kept it sweet, they kept it kind And left all the small-town gossip behind Hootie made love with Eric and Chew Then burned the biscuits like lovers do By sunrise, laughing in a tangled shoe They ordered pancakes for the whole crew [Verse 2] Eric brought roses from the grocery store Chew brought peppermints and forty-four Hootie brought a playlist on a cassette tape That got stuck on track seven in the worst shape [Pre-Chorus] The dog barked twice, then lost interest The cat judged all of them from the dresser They raised a toast with ginger brew To unusual love and a reliable two-step shoe [Chorus] Hootie made love with Eric and Chew With a borrowed quilt and a curtain askew They kept it sweet, they kept it kind And left all the small-town gossip behind Hootie made love with Eric and Chew Then burned the biscuits like lovers do By sunrise, laughing in a tangled shoe They ordered pancakes for the whole crew [Bridge] Now the diner whispers when they walk in late But the waitress saves them the corner booth by the plate Three milkshakes, one straw, a friendly dispute Over who gets the last cinnamon roll in the suit [Final Chorus] Hootie made love with Eric and Chew And found a little joy where the wildflowers grew No rulebook, no fuss, no reason to hide Just three good hearts taking life in stride Hootie made love with Eric and Chew Then fixed that curtain with a thumbtack or two They danced out laughing in mismatched shoes And gave the jukebox one more blues [Outro] Hootie, Eric, and Chew Three country hearts, one barbecue
