Kyle Can't Wait to Be a

Lirik

[Verse 1] Kyle’s got a crib picked out in blue A folded stroller and a list of names to choose He tells the whole block, “I’m ready, let’s begin” Then sees a nursing pillow and he’s suddenly pale again [Pre-Chorus] He can paint the room, he can learn the lullaby But one little question makes him gulp and blink his eyes [Chorus] Kyle can’t wait to be a dad He’s already bragging ’bout the best time he’ll have But when the baby needs a meal, he goes, “That’s gross!” Big brave Kyle backs away and holds his nose He wants the tiny socks, the bedtime stories too Just not the nursing part when it comes due Kyle can’t wait to be a dad [Verse 2] He’ll warm a bottle, rock the baby through the night He’ll change a diaper, swear he’s got the angle right He’ll guard the little crib like a castle wall But mentions nursing and he’s halfway down the hall [Pre-Chorus] His sister says, “You’ll learn; there’s more than one way through” Kyle nods and says, “I know—I’ll do my share, it’s true” [Chorus] Kyle can’t wait to be a dad He’s already bragging ’bout the best time he’ll have But when the baby needs a meal, he goes, “That’s gross!” Big brave Kyle backs away and holds his nose He wants the tiny socks, the bedtime stories too Just not the nursing part when it comes due Kyle can’t wait to be a dad [Bridge] Then the little one arrives, and the room turns quiet Kyle takes one look and all his nerves get outvoted He brings his partner water, settles close beside Learns the job is showing up, not choosing only the easy side [Final Chorus] Kyle can’t wait to be a dad Now he’s doing every bit of the best time he can have He still makes a face, but he stays right there With a burp cloth ready and a hand to share He wants the tiny socks, the bedtime stories too And all the messy, tender work that comes due Kyle can’t wait to be a dad Yeah, Kyle’s learning how to be a dad [Outro] He’s got the crib, the songs, the midnight plan And a whole lot left to learn—he’s becoming a dad
