We rolled into Yosemite valley just an hour late. But RyMo, Ted, Cole, and Josh didn’t hesitate They were already halfway to hamboned We cheersed some beers. Got our cabin mates and room keys We high-fived until our hands hurt Oh no! RyMo lost his wedding ring. Five minutes later, he found it on the ground. What a relief! The party got started. Dirtbags all in one room. In another was the Ryans, the Coles, and the Comie-stocks! But the brother-in-laws tent wouldn’t be stopped. So many pizzas So many dudes The cold ones flowed and then flowed some more. Poetry night on the bank of the river RyMo pulled poems out of his quiver We snapped instead of clapping cause thats what you do. The prospector read loudly And Caldwell said proudly Poems about fog, Poems about God and some about Todd Next day headed up to Tenaya Lake in a bad ass caravan The air was cold. The wind was blowing. Cole shaved in the parking lot like he didn’t even care. We set off on the hike Garett was crushing it from the very beginning Made it to May Lake and todd ran on ahead like a dork Kicked a family out of their campsite and stole their fire ring We Set up our tents and ate some lunch in a big ol’ circle. the trees were whistling in the icy cold breeze but that didn’t stop Andy from cooking up some ramen. Some set off up Mount Hoffman Some set off to fish Some just sat at the camp site and kept the marmots away Cole, RyMo, Josh, Andy and Ish. They hiked up into the most beautiful fog you ever saw. Chris and Todd turned back early like a couple of fellows. Didn’t want to fall and break more elbows. Garett got a fish I think it was a trout. Gary got a fish And smashed its eyeballs out Ted and Caldwell gathered some wood Probably in places where John Muir once stood We made a big fire Garett cooked some fish It got really cold but we talked into the night Todd got teary like a baby but he didn’t even care We went to bed and slept so good. Only tossed and turned for like seven hours Woke up in the morning to a nice warm fire Broke camp and headed out We hiked for a bit and then saw a bear Oh no! It’s eating a dear. We wanted to run We wanted to hide But RyMo and Andy Would not abide. The hike goes on People getting hungry. People getting fussy. Todd won’t let us stop until the look at spot that is money. What a jerk! We finally get to camp and collect some wood. Fire ring looks sketchy. Its on a hill Next to a tree. It’s gonna be great! Next we took a dip and stared at the falls Water so cold that it froze our balls. Back at our campsite just sitting around chillin’ And who comes around, just a grouse named Dylan We sat under the fire until the sun went down We shared some stories. We shared some Mezcal. Todd got weepy Everyone got sleepy The next day we hiked back thinking of steak Trying not to get lost and miss any turns A handful of guys stopped at the lake Take a swim and hiding from the white worms gas station! egg salad sandwiches! Gatorade in a can! Back in the valley we high-fived and sat on the back deck sipping’ cold ones while enjoying the warm air. We showered and walked to the mountain room sat at a big ol’ table. RyMo sampled like twelve glasses of wine while we watched in wonder. So many apps. So many steaks. So many deserts. So many dudes. Gary announced “I am officially hamboned.” We shut the place down and walked out like heroes. Slept in beds in heavenly peace until Ish snored so loud that Josh and Cole thought a motorcycle was driving through their room. Next day there was a beautiful morning. We had a fatty breakfast at the Ahwahnee and then went home. Peace out Yosemite.
