Good to great

HOOK I was good, now I’m great—never changed, just refined Same code, different weight, different frame of the mind I don’t chase, I create, I align, I define I was good… now I’m great over time I stayed solid through pressure, through phases, through doubt Now it shows in the way everything’s playin’ out I don’t speak on it much, I just live what it’s about I was good… now I’m great, no doubt VERSE 1 I was good when it mattered the least, when nobody noticed the effort I gave When the weight of the world was a regular state and the stress was a permanent place When I chose to be decent in seasons where decent was seen as a weakness to break So don’t tell me about what it takes—I was good when it cost me to stay I was good when the pressure would build and the only release was composure and thought When the people I trusted would shift and I still kept my word like it mattered or not I was good when the nights felt longer than life and the light was a concept, not caught So the growth isn’t sudden—it’s structured from somethin’ I built from the lessons I brought I never needed applause to adjust Never needed approval to trust What I knew was aligned with the version of me that I knew I would grow into from it So when they say I changed, I correct it I elevated standards and kept it Everything I was built from is still in the frame— I just refined the direction I kept it HOOK I was good, now I’m great—never changed, just refined Same code, different weight, different frame of the mind I don’t chase, I create, I align, I define I was good… now I’m great over time I stayed solid through pressure, through phases, through doubt Now it shows in the way everything’s playin’ out I don’t speak on it much, I just live what it’s about I was good… now I’m great, no doubt VERSE 2 (denser, elevated thinking) Great isn’t given, it’s built in the silence When no one is watchin’ you follow your guidance When every decision is shaped by alignment Not momentary emotion or outside compliance I defined what it meant for myself Not a title or wealth, it’s the state of the self When your actions reflect what you say and you think And there’s nothing you hide when you face it yourself So I cut what was extra, corrected the errors Connected the effort with long-term direction I measured my steps and invested in methods That better the version I’m meant to reflect And I kept it consistent— No switch in the code just to fit in a room No shift in my tone just to sit at a table Where truth isn’t stable and values assume I’m stable within it That’s why I don’t need to be loud to be seen The louder they speak, the less that it means I speak through the life that I lead in between HOOK I was good, now I’m great—never changed, just refined Same code, different weight, different frame of the mind I don’t chase, I create, I align, I define I was good… now I’m great over time VERSE 3 (final evolution, slow and powerful) I don’t look back with regret, I reflect Every step was a test I accepted Every loss was a lesson embedded Every moment I kept it together corrected The version you see is the sum of decisions That weren’t always easy to make But I made ‘em regardless of who was around Or the pressure applied to my name So now when I move, it’s intentional Not accidental or based on approval I built it internal, so nothing external Can shake what I know to be truthful And that’s what makes it different— I’m not great ‘cause I say it, I live it I’m not great from a moment, I’m built from the process Of never abandoning vision So if you ask how I got here I didn’t jump—I progressed I was good when it mattered the most… That’s the reason I’m great now FINAL HOOK (lifted, full, emotional but controlled) I was good, now I’m great—never changed, just refined Same code, different weight, different frame of the mind I don’t chase, I create, I align, I define I was good… now I’m great over time I stayed solid through pressure, through phases, through doubt Now it shows in the way everything’s playin’ out I don’t speak on it much, I just live what it’s about I was good… now I’m great, no doubt
