Lyrics
(Please stand for closing remarks)
My drear friends,
There’s a quiet place I know,
In this place I see waves softly flow
And clouds fill the sky with gentle mist.
In this place I’m free to be myself,
I’m as free as the birds in the swaying trees,
The chains of society are lifted
And the stillness consumes my soul.
In this place i only think of what’s inside,
I’m free to reflect on myself and you my dear friends.
I think of the day I left you all behind.
The regret of things unsaid and time unspent are free to mix with my thoughts in peaceful remorse.
Please my dear friends do not mistake my words for sadness.
Be assured my words carry only healing and eventual happiness.
As the waves make their presence and move the dock so too will my emotions.
And after they’ve fulfilled their needed turmoil they simply slip back into the water in peaceful retire.
So my dear friends, I write to you to say I finally understand what I must do to move on.
I’ve finally learned what it means to be free of your guilt.
Here in this quiet place I must leave you behind.
But please don’t think of this as goodbye, but rather, as the next step in our relationship.
We will be together once again, my dearest friends. I will see you when I finally breathe my last. Please, my brothers, wait for me until the day I can join you.
