Little Dan and Garrett's Horses
country humorousLyrics
[Verse]
Well, Little Dan came knockin', hat in hand,
Said, "Garrett, my ol' buddy, got a plan."
"I see them horses grazin' in your yard so neat,
Mind if I saddle up and ride into the heat?"
[Verse 2]
Garrett leaned back, chuckled low and deep,
Said, "Dan, my friend, you best not lose no sleep."
"These nags are slow, stubborn as a mule in the sand,
But I'll lend 'em to you, go ahead, be a man."
[Chorus]
We'll be ridin' those trails, kickin' up the dirt,
Little Dan and Garrett's steeds, don’t they ever flirt.
With the wind in our hair and the sun at our back,
Life's a lot more lively when you're ridin' horseback.
[Verse 3]
Little Dan was grinnin' from ear to ear,
Said, "I've dreamt 'bout this for nearly a year!"
He climbed on up, gave a cowboy yell,
And those horses moved, but slower than a snail's mail.
[Bridge]
Garrett shouted, "Dan, don't you get too wild,
Them horses gotta be back by supper, my child!"
Little Dan tips his hat with a cheeky grin,
"If I'm back too late, you can tan my skin."
[Verse 4]
They trotted through the meadows and by the creek,
With each step they took, the horses let out a squeak.
But Dan didn't care, he was a free man,
Ridin’ Garrett's horses, like kings of the land.
