A Lament In Green

Look at the world now:
Lost like a sailor whose compass has long since
Fallen overboard.
The future looks bleak;
So many eyes glazed over,
Minds lost in the endless waves of insanity
That pulse perpetually forward,
Lapping the desolate shorelines
To leave behind ancient, viscous Death
That coats abandoned sands.
I look towards the pale blue skies,
And come to the full realization and understanding
That there is no fucking "God".
If there ever was,
Then suicide found and embraced him, swiftly.
The sky remains, empty -
A neverending echo chamber of silence and pestilence.
Our prayers travel ever-onward,
No one there to answer them,
And they become stretched, distorted, asked,
As they flail beyond the atmosphere,
Into the vast and dark oblivion that is space.
Earth:
Collector of the soundless bones
We all leave behind.
A massive, spherical graveyard
That tells far too few of our illustrious stories.
To some, a planet -
To me, but a tomb.
A slowly building fire
That is destined to forever turn to ash
Every and any inkling of every one of our pasts.
We, of the elements,
Will be lost to the elements.
This is our prison,
And every last one of us a prisoner sentenced to Death...
