Walk Toward the Eyes

Lời bài hát

Thirteen years old, one o’clock in the morning Skateboard cutting quiet through the dark Nobody around, just the sound of the wheels And something in the tree line watching me hard Two green eyes staring from the edge of the woods Heart kicking hard but I didn’t turn around Stopped dead in the road and I told myself straight I ain’t running from nothing on this ground Chorus I set that skateboard down in the middle of the street Said I’m done being scared and I walked toward the heat If the dark wants a piece then it’s gonna have to take it I walked straight into the woods and I didn’t break Verse 2 Every step got heavier the closer I got Figured this might be the last one I ever walk But when I hit the tree line and the shadows fell back It was nothing but fireflies blinking in the black Little green lights dancing like they never meant a thing Just the night doing what the night does out here And right there I knew I’d already won You only lose the fight when you decide to run Bridge Since that night the world’s still trying to spook me Monsters change their faces but they all look the same I don’t flinch, I don’t run, and I don’t ask permission I look ‘em in the eye and I call ‘em by name Final Chorus I still set my feet when the fear starts to rise Still hear that kid in the dark saying “walk toward the eyes” I don’t turn around and I don’t wait to see Whatever’s in the woods ain’t bigger than me.
