OBS voice changer for live streams

Turn a stream into a character show. Voices AI Live converts your mic with AI and OBS captures it as a normal audio input - for Twitch, YouTube, Kick, TikTok LIVE, or local recordings.

Works with OBS Studio and Streamlabs Desktop on Windows 10+ and Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 14+. Not affiliated with the OBS Project, Streamlabs, Twitch, or YouTube.

How to use a voice changer in OBS

1

Install Voices AI Live

Download the free app for Windows or Mac and accept the virtual microphone install. Restart if your computer asks you to.

2

Pick a voice

Preview the voices in the app - or clone your own from a 5-second recording - and select one.

3

Add an Audio Input Capture

Click + under Sources, add Audio Input Capture, and set Device to CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac.

4

Mute your raw mic

Mute or disable your original mic in the Audio Mixer so viewers only hear the AI voice, then go live.

Set up a voice changer in OBS the right way

Add the Voices AI microphone as its own Audio Input Capture source instead of changing your global Mic/Aux device. The AI voice then gets its own fader and filters, and you can switch per scene - character voice in the gameplay scene, your real voice on Just Chatting.

In Settings > Audio, set Mic/Auxiliary Audio to Disabled (or mute it) so your real voice does not play underneath the AI voice.

Filters and sync

Voices AI Live already outputs a clean voice, so skip heavy noise suppression on the new source - a light compressor and a limiter are usually enough. If your voice and your facecam drift apart, add a small Sync Offset to the source in Advanced Audio Properties.

Streamlabs, Twitch, YouTube, and VTubing

Streamlabs Desktop works the same way: add an audio input source and pick the Voices AI device. Because OBS and Streamlabs stream whatever they capture, the voice change works on every platform you stream to.

VTubers can pair an AI voice with their model for a full character, and Discord can use the same virtual mic at the same time so your co-op partners hear the voice too.

OBS voice changer not working? Quick fixes

OBS doesn't list the Voices AI microphone

Start Voices AI Live first, then fully quit and reopen OBS so it rescans audio devices. Look for CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac. If it is still missing, restart your computer to finish the virtual microphone install.

Viewers hear two voices at once

Your original mic is still active. Mute it in the Audio Mixer or set Mic/Auxiliary Audio to Disabled in Settings > Audio.

Voice is out of sync with my camera

Open Advanced Audio Properties and add a Sync Offset to the Voices AI source until your lips match.

The voice sounds robotic, choppy, or cuts out

Turn off extra noise suppression in the app you are talking in, close GPU-heavy programs you are not using, and check your computer meets the Voices AI Live system requirements.

Fragen zu diesem Setup

Does it work with Streamlabs?

Yes. Add an audio input source in Streamlabs Desktop and select the Voices AI microphone.

Can I use a voice changer on Twitch?

Yes. Twitch receives whatever OBS streams. Follow Twitch's Community Guidelines and do not use voices to impersonate real people in a misleading way.

Is it good for VTubers?

Yes. Voices AI Live gives your model a voice that fits the character, and you can clone your own voice for a consistent persona.

Is the voice changer free?

Yes. Voices AI Live is free to download and includes free voices. Premium unlocks the rest of the voice library for $9.99/month or $59.99/year.

Is Voices AI Live an official OBS app?

No. Voices AI is not affiliated with OBS. Voices AI Live works as a virtual microphone that you select in OBS's audio settings, the same way you would pick a USB headset.

Is my voice uploaded anywhere?

No. Voice conversion runs locally on your computer. Nothing is recorded or sent to a server - your audio goes straight from Voices AI Live to the app you are using.
