Poor Little Rich Girl

Songtekst

[Verse 1] She’s got a pony in the country And a driver at the door A wardrobe full of Sunday best And shoes across the floor But the tea’s too hot, the toast is cold The curtains clash with blue She sighs into her silver spoon: “There’s nothing left to do!” [Chorus] Poor little rich girl, what a terrible day The yacht’s in the harbour, but it’s miles away Poor little rich girl, all dressed up to pout She’s got everything—except something to moan about! [Verse 2] Her father bought a villa With a view of somewhere warm She says the pool is much too wet And sunshine spoils her form The chauffeur took the wrong road Though she never said the place She taps her foot and tells the staff They’ve all got far too much space [Chorus] Poor little rich girl, what a terrible day The yacht’s in the harbour, but it’s miles away Poor little rich girl, all dressed up to pout She’s got everything—except something to moan about! [Bridge] “Where’s my little diamond pin?” “It’s right there on your hat.” “And why’s the cat so ordinary?” “Because you bought it that.” The butler coughs, the cook looks down The footman bites his tongue She’s thirty going on thirteen And still the world’s done her wrong [Chorus] Poor little rich girl, what a terrible day The yacht’s in the harbour, but it’s miles away Poor little rich girl, all dressed up to pout She’s got everything—except something to moan about! [Outro] So raise a little cup of tea To troubles grand and small She’s got the lot, she’s got the lot— And still she wants it all!
