Download the free app for Windows or Mac and accept the virtual microphone install. Restart if your computer asks you to.
Preview the voices in the app - or clone your own from a 5-second recording - and select one.
Open Settings and more (...) > Settings > Devices and set Microphone to CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac. In a call, use Device settings to switch.
Set Noise suppression to Off or Low so Teams does not filter the AI voice, then join your call.
Teams has no voice effects of its own - it sends whichever microphone you select. Voices AI Live converts your speech into the selected voice with an AI model on your computer and exposes the result as a virtual microphone, so Teams calls, meetings, webinars, and recordings all carry the new voice.
Because conversion runs locally, your audio is not sent to Voices AI. Teams receives the converted voice exactly as it would receive a headset microphone.
Teams noise suppression is tuned for raw microphones and can make a converted voice sound choppy. Set it to Low or Off in Settings > Devices. If you are on a work device, your IT team may manage which apps and audio drivers you can install, so check before setting it up.
Character voices are great for socials, icebreakers, training scenarios, and classes. Tell people when you are using one, never use an AI voice to impersonate a colleague, manager, or customer, and follow your organization's policies on recording and consent.
Start Voices AI Live first, then fully quit and reopen Teams so it rescans audio devices. Look for CABLE Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) on Windows or Voices AI Virtual Mic on Mac. If it is still missing, restart your computer to finish the virtual microphone install.
Open Device settings during the call and pick the Voices AI microphone. Teams can switch back to a headset when you plug one in, so check after connecting new devices.
Set Noise suppression to Low or Off and close GPU-heavy apps you are not using.
Use headphones. Speaker audio leaking into your real microphone gets converted and sent back to everyone.
