Damien Sykes I died in his sleep last night peacefully with no pain no fear or regret. That he has left behind a wife Alexandra his four boys four daughters. In his lifetime Damien has accomplished a lot. He’s always been a man that wanted to change healthcare politics, and the infrastructure behind it as you always believed in patient care and how they should come look at as people and not medical record numbers with that being said he was able to help so many patients get their lives together he helped people with their mental struggles, financial struggles Housing struggles and showed them how taking care of yourself first and the things that you need would allow you to accomplish all the other things that you need in one but that your health had to come first and he did well he had an SLE. He opened up a halfway house. He had a foster care anything to help enhance someone’s life. He did it and he did it unapologetically he was so committed to a healthcare that and his own damn way. Damien that guy he was always giving things, but he always wanted to give things that could stay here forever to continue to enhance other people lives. That he that he even planned out his daughter‘s life in healthcare that she was gonna hold the torch after he finished and was passed, and I’m sure his daughter’s gonna fall through with that as she has finished San Francisco state and is now moving onto her PA program. Where her dreams lead to her as a black woman be able to work with other women of color and have a safe place to talk about their needs and help them have a good pathway to healthcare. Damien is a person that would’ve wanted you to all know that he loved you all and still loves you even though he might not be right here that he still in spirit around and he’s watching you. That he hopes that the Legacy that he tried to create his whole life leaves you with a little bit more humility a little bit more hope faith that you’re gonna accomplish anything if you put your mind to it that by him sacrificing his daughter to try to continue this Legacy in healthcare that you have to come first so all of your dreams don’t come last especially when it comes to friends and family. Please listen that he wanted you all to make yourself a priority first so your family could come first and that everything that you want to accomplish begins with you. That he lived and he had a plan. And his most important plan was so all of us could continue his legacy was that if you make yourself come first that you can touch so many more people and he accomplished that and he would be so happy to know that the way he lived in by taking every bit of himself serious, and the couplement that he did in fact accomplished and enrich, our lives that he would be OK that he’s not here anymore. With all this sad as Damien would always say take care of yourself first so you can help everyone and always “keep that shit moving”
