[Intro] They built it high so we would think it couldn’t fall, Gold on the gates, names carved into the wall. Kings count armies, merchants count gold— But Heaven been watching since before they took control. They say, “Look what we made.” God says, “Look what I allowed.” Every throne looks permanent When you’re standing in the crowd. [Verse 1] Babylon shining like the sun don’t set, Wine in the cup and the whole world in debt. Purple on her shoulders, everybody wants a seat, Buying little pieces of the world beneath her feet. Iron in the statute, silver in the chest, Every age convinced that its kingdom is the best. But the feet got cracks underneath all the stone, And the mountain knows the hour though the kingdoms don’t. I seen men call power what was borrowed for a season, Call possession proof, call appetite reason. Build a tower high enough to make the heavens small— Then wonder where God was when they watched the tower fall. But He was there. Before the mortar and the brick. Before the crown. Before the first man learned to make another bow down. Before the empire wrote its version in the scroll, The Gardener knew the seed and what the seed would grow. [Pre-Chorus] So don’t confuse His silence with an empty throne. Don’t confuse the waiting with walking alone. The clock don’t belong to the hands that you see— What looks late to the prisoner may be right on time to the King. [Chorus] Hold on. When the night gets long, hold on. When the mighty say the morning’s gone, hold on. You don’t need to see the road to know which way you’re facing. You don’t need to move the mountain— Just keep faith while you are waiting. Stone from the mountain, not cut by a hand. Truth doesn’t hurry, but truth gonna stand. Kingdoms come, kingdoms go, let the proud wind blow— If the root is living, there’s more beneath the snow. [Verse 2] Two prophets in the Temple, both invoking the Name. One promised easy freedom, one carried the shame. Everybody wants peace when the yoke gets tight, But a beautiful promise doesn’t make a prophet right. Wood hit the floor— whole crowd saw it break. Probably sounded like freedom; probably felt like escape. Jeremiah didn’t swing back, didn’t fight for the stage. Turned around, walked off, let the Lord turn the page. Then the Word came. Wood becomes iron. Two years becomes a grave. Funny how rebellion calls itself brave. Funny how a lie feels warm when the winter comes, And truth feels like a burden till you see what it becomes. That’s the lesson: Don’t judge the seed by the dirt where it’s laid. Don’t call God absent because Heaven delayed. Don’t trade what is true for what comforts you now— Sometimes faith is wearing what you wish God would take down. [Verse 3] I learned hope ain’t pretending that the wound doesn’t bleed. Faith ain’t calling every hunger something that you need. Trust ain’t knowing every answer before taking the road. Sometimes trust is just believing there’s a hand beneath the load. Perseverance isn’t glory. Most days nobody sees. It’s roots pushing downward while they’re waiting on the leaves. It’s choosing not to poison what the suffering grew, Not becoming what hurt you just because it hurt you. That’s harder. Anybody can rage when the whole world’s wrong. Anybody can quit when the winter runs long. But can you keep a little mercy when you’re finally holding power? Can you water somebody else’s field in your victorious hour? That’s the test. Not whether you conquered. Not whether they knew your name. Not whether you got the throne after surviving the flame. What did you become while you waited for dawn? Did the darkness enter you— or did you carry the light on? [Bridge] Maybe that’s why the Gardener waits. Fruit can’t be shouted into ripeness. Roots can’t be threatened into depth. Love cannot be forced and still be love. So plant. Water. Stand. Forgive when forgiveness is righteous. Resist when resistance is required. Tell the truth when the lie is beautiful. Stay humble when the truth proves you right. And when you cannot see Him— remember: Silence is not absence. Waiting is not abandonment. A buried seed is not a dead seed. And a cross that looks like defeat may still be the doorway to resurrection. [Final Chorus] So hold on. When the night gets long, hold on. When your prayers come back like echoes, hold on. When you’ve carried that old timber till your shoulders feel like stone— You may discover you were never carrying it alone. Stone from the mountain, come
