“Near to Thee” Verse 1 Calling from the depths of the heart is a voice so sweet and soft, falling upon my weary ears: “My son, remember I am near and watchful oft.” Though I do not hear Him presently, for this life has burdened me, still He echoes through my memory: “My son, remember I am near to thee.” Pre-Chorus When the shadow of despair fills the air, and my chest grows tight though I long to move, there descends His hand of repair: “My son, remember I am near to you.” Chorus “My son, remember as I remembered you; fly though your wings refuse. Dive forth though your tiredness concludes that your soul has nothing left to prove. And though the world forgets your name, and those beside you fade like weather, forget not that I remain around the mound, the hill, the mountain altogether.” Verse 2 “If your heart sinks low and shrinks, you shall find Me at its brink. If your arms receive wear and tear, you shall find Me the One who repairs.
