Forever on the Same Trail

Lyrics

Twenty-eight years ago, I found my girl, And somehow she became my whole wide world. We started with a dream and a little bit of love, Never knowing how far we’d come. Three beautiful kids came along the way, A thousand memories made day after day. Now one little grandbaby has us wrapped around their hand, And I still thank God that you’re the one who understands. [Chorus] Ashley, you’re my heart, you’re my home, You’re the reason I never feel alone. Through every high, through every low, You’re the one beside me wherever we go. Twenty-eight years and I’d choose you again, My lover, my partner, my best friend. If I had one life and one chance to get it right, I’d spend every minute with you by my side. [Verse 2] We’ve watched our children grow and find their way, Held onto each other through every changing day. We’ve laughed till we cried, we’ve cried through the pain, And somehow through it all, our love remained. There are two dogs waiting when we walk through the door, And nine little cats somehow keep asking for more. But none of that matters when you’re holding my hand, Because loving you was always part of the plan. [Bridge] Someday we’ll look back at the road that we’ve traveled, At all of the dreams and the memories we’ve gathered. Three kids, one grandbaby, a lifetime of love, And I’ll still be thanking the Lord up above. [Final Chorus] Ashley, you’re my heart, you’re my home, After twenty-eight years, you’re still the one. And if tomorrow gave me the choice again, I’d reach for your hand and start it all over again. Through every season, every laugh and every tear, I’d want you right beside me year after year. Twenty-eight years, and one thing remains true… My greatest adventure has always been you
