Hootie, the Lucky Sock

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Chew keeps one drawer locked up tight By the old blue coat he wears at night There’s a single sock with a silver thread He calls Hootie, keeps it by his bed [Pre-Chorus] When the lucky day is running late He gives that sock a little pep talk, waits Then he grins like he already knows Good fortune follows wherever it goes [Chorus] Hootie, Hootie, lucky little sock Chew gives you a sniff and the good times unlock Hootie, Hootie, tucked away with care He swears his lucky sock can take him anywhere [Verse 2] At the corner shop, he wins a pie Finds a coin beneath the laundromat sky He tells his friends, “It’s Hootie’s doing, see?” They just laugh and let the legend be [Pre-Chorus] Before the big game, before the show He checks that little heel and toe Then he grins like he already knows Good fortune follows wherever it goes [Chorus] Hootie, Hootie, lucky little sock Chew gives you a sniff and the good times unlock Hootie, Hootie, tucked away with care He swears his lucky sock can take him anywhere [Bridge] One day Hootie vanished from the chair Chew searched every basket, every stair Found it in the dryer, warm and clean Best reunion that the house had seen [Final Chorus] Hootie, Hootie, lucky little sock Chew gives you a sniff and the good times unlock Hootie, Hootie, tucked away with care He swears his lucky sock can take him anywhere Hootie, Hootie, that’s his lucky charm Chew keeps you close and safe from harm [Outro] Hootie, Hootie, tucked away with care Chew and his lucky sock—a perfect pair
