Grace Carried Me Over the

Lyrics

[Verse 1] At the first light over Cedar Creek I took the narrow road alone With a worn-out coat and a troubled mind And no sure way to find my home Then a neighbor waved from the old white gate And called me in from the cold She said, “The Lord still knows your name, And His hands can make you whole” [Chorus] Grace carried me over the water Mercy met me along the way When I had no strength left to follow The Shepherd still called me by name So I’ll sing of the hope that found me And the love that will not let go Grace carried me over the water And it’s leading me home [Verse 2] Now the creek runs high when the spring rains come And the footbridge bends in the wind But I remember the promise kept When I thought I could not stand again There’s a place at the table, a lamp in the window A welcome that waits through the night And the hands of the Savior are steady and strong When the road slips out of sight [Chorus] Grace carried me over the water Mercy met me along the way When I had no strength left to follow The Shepherd still called me by name So I’ll sing of the hope that found me And the love that will not let go Grace carried me over the water And it’s leading me home [Bridge] Bless the hands that lift the fallen Bless the feet that walk in peace Bless the One who bore our sorrow And whose kindness has no end [Final Chorus] Grace carried me over the water Mercy met me along the way When I had no strength left to follow The Shepherd still called me by name Now I’ll sing of the hope that found me And the love that will not let go Grace carried me over the water And it’s leading me home [Outro] Grace carried me over the water And it’s leading me home
