Maxcel Jones

Lyrics

[Verse 1] Maxcel Jones keeps my spare key Though he says it’s just for emergencies He knows which mug I reach for first And saves the good seat when the movie starts [Pre-Chorus] He says my name like it’s a secret Then laughs because he can’t keep it [Chorus] Maxcel Jones is in love with me It’s in the way he remembers tea The little things he never has to say Like walking me home the longer way Maxcel Jones is in love, I know He tries to hide it, but it always shows And if he asks what I’ve been thinking of I’ll tell him I might be falling too [Verse 2] He brings two oranges on the train One for me, though he claims he bought them plain He texts, “Did you get home all right?” Then stays awake until I write [Pre-Chorus] He says it’s nothing, just good manners Then blushes when I catch the answer [Chorus] Maxcel Jones is in love with me It’s in the way he remembers tea The little things he never has to say Like walking me home the longer way Maxcel Jones is in love, I know He tries to hide it, but it always shows And if he asks what I’ve been thinking of I’ll tell him I might be falling too [Bridge] So leave the spare key by the door You don’t need an excuse anymore Come sit beside me, take your time I’ve got a feeling your heart matches mine [Final Chorus] Maxcel Jones is in love with me And now I’m done pretending not to see The little things have led me here Your easy laugh, your hand, your care Maxcel Jones, come close, don’t go There’s something I’ve been wanting you to know If you ask what I’ve been thinking of I’ll tell you I’m in love with you [Outro] Maxcel Jones, I’m in love with you
