Walking Close to You

Lyrics

[Verse 1] When the creek runs high and the road turns red, And the last light slips from the hills ahead, I remember the words that my mother would say: “God walks beside you all the way.” [Chorus] There’s a hand to hold when the night comes on, A steady heart when my own is gone. Through the valley, through the morning dew, Lord, I’ll keep on walking close to You. [Verse 2] At the little white church by the sycamore tree, We sang for the farmer and the family. With a worn-out coat and a pocket Bible, Hope was a flame no wind could trouble. [Chorus] There’s a hand to hold when the night comes on, A steady heart when my own is gone. Through the valley, through the morning dew, Lord, I’ll keep on walking close to You. [Bridge] When my feet grow tired and my courage bends, Your mercy meets me around the bend. Every mile and every mile-marker stone, Reminds my wandering heart I’m not alone. [Instrumental Break] [Final Chorus] There’s a hand to hold when the night comes on, A steady heart when my own is gone. Through the valley, through the morning dew, Lord, I’ll keep on walking close to You. Yes, I’ll keep on walking close to You. [Outro] Lord, I’ll keep on walking close to You.
