Keep My Feet on the Ground

Lyrics

[Intro] Dust on my boots, cross on the dash Mercy came steady when the hard times passed [Verse 1] County line gravel, dawn breaking pale Mama said, “Son, let grace tell the tale” I had a full tank of trouble to burn Jesus met me where the blacktop turned Old church doors and a cracked bell ring I walked in carrying everything He took my shame, didn’t ask me to hide Put a little more courage back inside [Chorus] Jesus, keep my feet on the ground When the hard wind comes, I won’t bow down Holy Spirit, breathe through this heart Big bass rolling, but Your peace runs deep in the dark I was lost, now I know where I stand Held by the grace of a nail-scarred hand Jesus, You’re the strength in my soul When the whole world shakes, You keep me whole [Verse 2] Farm-road nights and a phone gone cold Bills on the table, worries growing bold Still I found hope in a worn-out pew And a quiet prayer that carried me through No crown, no clout, no boast in my name Just a changed-up heart and a reason to praise If my brother’s down, I’ll pull up beside We can face that hill with the Lord as our guide [Chorus] Jesus, keep my feet on the ground When the hard wind comes, I won’t bow down Holy Spirit, breathe through this heart Big bass rolling, but Your peace runs deep in the dark I was lost, now I know where I stand Held by the grace of a nail-scarred hand Jesus, You’re the strength in my soul When the whole world shakes, You keep me whole [Bridge] Let the river run, let the old chains break Give me steady hands for the choices I make From the churchyard grass to the fields I roam Your love goes with me, and it leads me home [Final Chorus] Jesus, keep my feet on the ground When the hard wind comes, I won’t bow down Holy Spirit, breathe through this heart Big bass rolling, but Your peace runs deep in the dark I was lost, now I know where I stand Held by the grace of a nail-scarred hand Jesus, You’re the strength in my soul When the whole world shakes, You keep me whole [Outro] Dust on my boots, hope in my chest Jesus is with me; I’m leaving the rest
