No Good Deed Is Ever Lost

Lyrics

[Verse 1] He left the office as the dusk turned blue A paper bag of groceries swinging by his shoe A peel lay curled beside the curb ahead He slipped, the pavement rushing at his head [Pre-Chorus] An unseen hand caught hold and pulled him clear He spun around—no one was standing near [Chorus] Maybe kindness finds its way back home Through a hand we’ll never see or know One small mercy, given on the way Can return and catch us on a harder day So give what you can, wherever you go No good deed is ever lost or thrown away [Verse 2] Then he remembered, on the walk back through town A mother and her children, tired and worn down He’d bought them supper, nothing grand or wise Just warm bread and a kindness in their eyes [Pre-Chorus] He looked up at the quiet, empty street And felt that saving touch still steady at his feet [Chorus] Maybe kindness finds its way back home Through a hand we’ll never see or know One small mercy, given on the way Can return and catch us on a harder day So give what you can, wherever you go No good deed is ever lost or thrown away [Bridge] You may never see where your kindness goes Or know whose burden it quietly slows But every heart you lift along the road Makes room for grace when your own steps fold [Final Chorus] Maybe kindness finds its way back home Through a hand we’ll never see or know One small mercy, given on the way Can return and catch us on a harder day So give what you can, wherever you go No good deed is ever lost or thrown away [Outro] No good deed is ever lost No kindness goes to waste
