Roscoe, My Old Pal

歌詞

[Verse 1] Last night I held you close and watched you breathe your last Then watched you go on home, too soon and far too fast Your old coat by the doorway, your dish beside the sink I reach to call your name before I even think [Chorus] Roscoe, my old pal, my best friend through it all No one could take your place, no one could fill it at all You’re forever in my heart, wherever I may roam And when my time comes, I hope you’ll meet me home [Verse 2] You knew the sound of my steps, the hush of every room You kept me company through winter, rain, and June Now morning finds your blanket folded where you lay I carry all our years with me through every day [Chorus] Roscoe, my old pal, my best friend through it all No one could take your place, no one could fill it at all You’re forever in my heart, wherever I may roam And when my time comes, I hope you’ll meet me home [Bridge] Somewhere past the far hills, where the colors cross the sky I’ll look for you at Rainbow Bridge when my own road runs dry Till then, sleep easy, old friend, you’ve given me your best I’ll keep your love beside me, and let your spirit rest [Outro] Roscoe, you’re forever in my heart When my road ends, I hope we’ll never part
