Where the Winter Roses Sleep

Lyrics

[Verse 1: Female] You left a silver key beside the winter pane, A small blue thread still caught upon the frame. I followed where the fir trees bent beneath the snow, To find the house that only dreamers know. [Verse 2: Male] I kept the little clock that never learned to chime, And watched its quiet hands forget the time. The garden gate was open, though the path was white, Your footprints led me toward a candle’s light. [Pre-Chorus: Duet] If morning comes before we find the door, Will you remember what we came here for? [Chorus: Duet] Meet me where the winter roses sleep, Where the old moon leans above the keep. Though the years may turn the road from view, I will leave one lantern burning blue. [Verse 3: Female] The staircase curled around a frozen fountain’s song, The portraits watched us as we wandered on. You held my hand; the painted birds took flight, And every silent room began to breathe tonight. [Bridge: Male, then Female] I thought the dream would vanish with the dawn. I thought the house would close when you were gone. But here you are, still calling through the snow. Then take my hand; there’s one more place to go. [Final Chorus: Duet] Meet me where the winter roses sleep, Where the old moon leans above the keep. Though the years may turn the road from view, I will leave one lantern burning blue. I will leave one lantern burning blue. [Outro: Humming choir, duet] Where the winter roses sleep, I will find you there.
