Rest Easy, Kathy

Lyrics

[Intro] Kathy, I’m talking to you tonight From the little circle that still holds you close [Verse 1] Your picture’s by the window, where the morning finds the room I catch myself still turning when I hear your favorite tune I tell you what’s been happening, the small things and the big How your name still comes up in every story that we live [Pre-Chorus] I can’t reach you with a telephone But I can send these words above [Chorus] Kathy, I hope you know we’re doing all right Me, Bob, and Clinton—we’re making it through life We laugh, we keep on going, we carry what you gave And though we miss you every day, your love is what we save So I’m praying you can hear me, wherever heaven may be We’re doing well, dear sister, but you’re still here with me [Verse 2] Bob’s keeping steady, finding ways to face the days He speaks of you with tenderness, remembers all your ways Clinton’s growing, making plans, with that spark you’d recognize I see a little piece of you each time I meet his eyes And me, I’m learning how to hold the hurt and still move on To thank the Lord for every year, every laugh, every song [Pre-Chorus] Some days weigh a little heavier Some days the sun comes through But all the good you planted here Keeps growing because of you [Chorus] Kathy, I hope you know we’re doing all right Me, Bob, and Clinton—we’re making it through life We laugh, we keep on going, we carry what you gave And though we miss you every day, your love is what we save So I’m praying you can hear me, wherever heaven may be We’re doing well, dear sister, but you’re still here with me [Bridge] Lord, thank You for my sister, for the years we got to share For her kindness in our family, for the way she always cared Keep her close in that bright kingdom, let her rest beyond the pain And help us love each other well until we meet again [Verse 3] Kathy, Bob is doing well, and Clinton’s finding his own way I’m standing here and telling you we’re grateful for today We miss your voice at gatherings, your place around the table But the love you left among us is a strength that keeps us stable So when we gather up together, you’re a part of every story In the blessings, in the hard times, in the quiet and the glory [Final Chorus] Kathy, I hope you know we’re doing all right Me, Bob, and Clinton—we’re making it through life We laugh, we keep on going, we carry what you gave And though we miss you every day, your love is what we save So I’m praying you can hear me, wherever heaven may be We’re doing well, dear sister, but you’re still here with me [Outro] Rest easy, Kathy, you’re loved beyond the years We’re doing well, we miss you, and we keep you in our prayers
