Every Step Got a Reason

Lyrics

[Intro] Yeah, grace found me right where I was Now every step got a reason [Verse 1] I kept my plans folded tight in my coat Told everybody I was fine, kept afloat Then Sunday morning, a worn-out pew And a quiet old hymn came breaking through You met me there with the truth and the bread Put a steady new thought in a restless head Now I walk out lighter than I walked in Mercy wrote a new page where the doubt had been [Chorus] You pulled me up when my strength ran dry Put a song in my chest, put a lift in my stride I was lost in the noise, now I know Your name Every day, every turn, I will bless Your name We rise, we rise, by the love You give Hands open wide, got a reason to live From the back pew rows to the front street blocks We give You the praise, and the praise won’t stop [Verse 2] Auntie keeps a Bible by the kitchen sink Says, “Child, take a breath before you overthink” Neighbors bring a casserole, check on the door Faith looks a lot like showing up more When my brother called from a hard season I stayed on the line, let him talk, kept believing We don’t have to carry every weight alone There’s a place at the table, there’s a way back home [Chorus] You pulled me up when my strength ran dry Put a song in my chest, put a lift in my stride I was lost in the noise, now I know Your name Every day, every turn, I will bless Your name We rise, we rise, by the love You give Hands open wide, got a reason to live From the back pew rows to the front street blocks We give You the praise, and the praise won’t stop [Bridge] If the road gets steep, You are still near If the night feels long, Your word stays clear We’ve seen the small seeds break through stone No one walks this road alone [Final Chorus] You pulled me up when my strength ran dry Put a song in my chest, put a lift in my stride I was lost in the noise, now I know Your name Every day, every turn, I will bless Your name We rise, we rise, by the love You give Hands open wide, got a reason to live From the back pew rows to the front street blocks We give You the praise, and the praise won’t stop [Outro] Grace found me right where I was Now every step got a reason
