Yea to My Lost

Lyrics

[Verse 1] I found your blue cup behind the sink A chipped white moon with a coffee ring The landlord’s note was folded twice Your name still caught in the paper crease [Pre-Chorus] I keep the parts I can’t explain The quiet room, the window stain [Chorus] Yea to my lost, I’m letting you go Not like a door, more like letting snow Melt from the sleeve of a winter coat Yea to my lost, I can carry both What I had then, what I have now I say yes softly; I don’t know how [Verse 2] Your old red scarf is in the drawer I take it out, then close it once more The kettle clicks, the morning starts A little less weight across my heart [Pre-Chorus] I don’t erase the road we crossed I learn the shape of what it cost [Chorus] Yea to my lost, I’m letting you go Not like a door, more like letting snow Melt from the sleeve of a winter coat Yea to my lost, I can carry both What I had then, what I have now I say yes softly; I don’t know how [Bridge] If you were here, I’d make us tea And leave the hard words where they’d be But morning has its own small way Of asking me to live today [Final Chorus] Yea to my lost, I’m letting you go Not like a door, more like letting snow Melt from the sleeve of a winter coat Yea to my lost, I can carry both What I had then, what I have now I say yes softly; I know somehow [Outro] The cup stays chipped, the day moves on I keep the love; I set down the gone
