Magic Carpet Ride

Lyrics

[Verse 1] You found that old rug folded by the stairs Gold thread winking in the dust and hairs You brushed it once; the tassels shook Then lifted us clean off the second-floor nook [Pre-Chorus] Hold tight, your shoes are losing ground The chimney tops are shrinking down [Chorus] Ride, ride, magic carpet ride Over the river with the whole wide world outside Ride, ride, let the bright wind guide You call the turns and I’ll be right by your side [Verse 2] We skimmed past orchards, dipped through a cloud A kite-string caught us; the kids cheered loud You tipped your hat to a moonlit train And we sailed through the open window of rain [Pre-Chorus] No ticket, no road, no need to choose Just point that fringe where you want to cruise [Chorus] Ride, ride, magic carpet ride Over the river with the whole wide world outside Ride, ride, let the bright wind guide You call the turns and I’ll be right by your side [Bridge] When the morning calls us home again We’ll fold the sky and tuck it in But if you hear those tassels sway You know we’re taking off another day [Instrumental Break] [Final Chorus] Ride, ride, magic carpet ride Over the river with the whole wide world outside Ride, ride, let the bright wind guide You call the turns and I’ll be right by your side Ride, ride, magic carpet ride Past the rooftops, past the countryside
