Melky Situm

Lyrics

[Verse 1] You wrote your name on the paper cup Then left it where the rain could reach I found it folded in my coat A little note without a speech [Pre-Chorus] You said, “Keep the crooked parts” Like that was easy to do I keep turning every small thing Till it starts to look like you [Chorus] Melky Situm, say it slow Like a place we used to go Melky Situm, there you are In the chipped blue bowl, the jammed guitar I can’t explain what I’m holding on to Melky Situm, I still know you [Verse 2] The corner shop changed hands last June The old red sign came down at dawn You’d laugh at how I saved the matchbook Though the little café’s long gone [Pre-Chorus] You said, “Keep the crooked parts” I let the good ones through Now every shelf has room enough For something strange and new [Chorus] Melky Situm, say it slow Like a place we used to go Melky Situm, there you are In the chipped blue bowl, the jammed guitar I can’t explain what I’m holding on to Melky Situm, I still know you [Bridge] If you come by, the door sticks twice Lift it up before you turn I’ve kept the little kitchen light Not for waiting—just to learn [Final Chorus] Melky Situm, say it slow There are roads we’ll never know Melky Situm, there you are Not a wound and not a scar Just a name I carry through Melky Situm, good to know you [Outro] Good to know you Melky Situm
