Still Choosing You

Lyrics

The first time that I met you, who would’ve known, Where that crazy night would lead us down the road? I put handcuffs on you, left you standing in the street, Hell of a way to meet the woman Who’d mean everything to me. A year or two went by Before we finally took our chance, Then twenty-two years ago We decided to give us a chance. We didn’t know where it would take us, Or everything we’d make it through, We just knew there was something there Worth holding on to. [Pre-Chorus] Somewhere along the way, Me and you became us, A crazy beginning became a life, And somehow crazy became love. [Chorus] Cory, I’d choose you all over again, Through every high, every low, Every where and every when. Through the good days and the hard nights, Every wrong and every right, You’ve been standing right beside me For damn near half our lives. And after twenty-two years, There’s one thing I know is true— If I had a thousand lives to live, I’d spend every one with you. After everything we’ve been through, I’m still choosing you. [Verse 2] Hunter came along in 2007, And we learned just how much love Could fit inside our little world. October twenty-sixth, twenty-thirteen, You stood there and said “I do” to me. Then Caydence came in 2014, Another piece of us, another living dream. Somewhere between raising those kids And figuring this whole life out, We built something stronger Than we ever dreamed about. [Pre-Chorus] We’ve watched the years move faster, We’ve changed, but one thing hasn’t moved— When this world gets heavy on my shoulders, I still reach for you. [Chorus] Cory, I’d choose you all over again, Through every high, every low, Every where and every when. Through the good days and the hard nights, Every scar and every fight, You’ve been standing right beside me For damn near half our lives. And after twenty-two years, There’s one thing I know is true— If I had a thousand lives to live, I’d spend every one with you. After everything we’ve been through, I’m still choosing you. [Bridge — stripped down] You’ve seen the best I’ve ever been, You’ve seen the parts I’d rather hide. Through every version of me, You’ve never left my side. Someday when we’re old and gray, And our kids have lives of their own, We’ll laugh about that crazy night And just how far we’ve come. Who would’ve thought the girl I left handcuffed in the street Would become my whole damn world, And everything to me? [Final Chorus — build big] Cory, I’d choose you all over again, From that first crazy night To wherever this story ends. I’d take every wrong turn, every hard road, Every tear we’ve ever cried, If I knew at the end of every one You’d still be by my side. We made Hunter and Caydence, We made a family, we made a life, But the greatest thing that ever happened to me Was you becoming my wife. And after twenty-two years, My heart still knows what to do— Out of everybody in this whole damn world, It still reaches straight for you. [Outro — music drops down] Here’s to October twenty-sixth, And every year still left to come. Here’s to the girl I met back then, And the woman you’ve become. Twenty-two years together, Forever still left to get through… And when forever isn’t long enough, I’ll still be choosing you.
