Winter Keepsake

Lyrics

[Verse 1] You found the box beneath the stairs, With paper snowflakes, tangled pairs Of silver hooks and ribbon red, And one bent star we always mend. [Pre-Chorus] You pass the lights, I test each strand, Then laugh when one goes dark again. [Chorus] Let’s dress the Christmas tree tonight, Hang the little wooden sleigh just right. Your crooked angel, my glass moon, We’ll save the best ornament for soon. Step back and see what we have made— A winter keepsake, bright and handmade. [Verse 2] The kitchen smells of orange peel, You hum the tune you always steal. A paper chain from years ago Still has our names in careful rows. [Pre-Chorus] You lift me up to reach the top, The star leans left, but we don’t stop. [Chorus] Let’s dress the Christmas tree tonight, Hang the little wooden sleigh just right. Your crooked angel, my glass moon, We’ll save the best ornament for soon. Step back and see what we have made— A winter keepsake, bright and handmade. [Bridge] When January clears the room, We’ll pack these colors till they bloom Again next year, in this same place, With one more story to retrace. [Final Chorus] Let’s dress the Christmas tree tonight, Hang the little wooden sleigh just right. Your crooked angel, my glass moon, We found the missing hook too soon. Step back and see what we have made— A winter keepsake, bright and handmade. [Outro] The star leans left, the lights shine through, And every branch reminds me of you.
