That Was Our Place

Lyrics

[Verse 1] So when you gonna tell her That we did that, too? She thinks it’s something special Like it’s made brand new [Pre-Chorus] You let her name the corner booth The rain-wet walk, the borrowed view I bite my tongue, then smile on cue [Chorus] That was our place, I found it first The chipped blue door, the crooked sign You say it’s hers like that could change The way we left it there in time So when you gonna tell her We’ve already been through that? [Verse 2] She keeps the ticket in her wallet From the little room downtown You held my coat beside the doorway When the power all went out [Pre-Chorus] Now she tells you what to order At the table by the wall I can almost hear you laughing Like you never knew at all [Chorus] That was our place, I found it first The chipped blue door, the crooked sign You say it’s hers like that could change The way we left it there in time So when you gonna tell her We’ve already been through that? [Bridge] Maybe every story circles back Maybe every key fits more than one But you don’t get to call it new Just because she’s the one you bring along [Final Chorus] That was our place, I found it first The chipped blue door, the crooked sign You say it’s hers like that could change The way we left it there in time So when you gonna tell her We’ve already been through that? [Outro] That was our place I found it first
