Rollin’ in the valley, bout an hour late (like a pimp) But RyMo, Ted, Cole, and Josh didn’t hesitate (Say what?) RyMo lost his wedding ring. Five minutes later, he found it on the ground. (What a relief!) Room keys and the dirtbags all in one cabin Pizza and beer and doin’ lots of gabbin’ Down to the river, poems at dusk The prospector read loudly And Caldwell said proudly Poems about fog, Poems about God and some about Todd Next day at Tenaya friggin’ Lake (Yo) It’s cold as a mother but Cole don’t care He’s shaving like a brother while tourist stare Up to May Lake and Garett’s looking stout Todd found a campsite and kicked a family out Some set off up Mount Hoffman Some set off to fish Some just sat at the camp site and kept the marmots away Josh, Cole, RyMo, Andy and Ish. They hiked up into the most beautiful fog you ever saw. Chris and Todd turned back early like a couple of fellows. Didn’t want to fall and break more elbows. Garett got a fish I think it was a trout. Gary got a fish And smashed it’s eyeballs out Caldwell busting up firewood for hours on end Only one piece wouldn’t be his friend (Ouch) Light a camp fire cause it’s getting kinda cold RyMo passen’ out cheese with lots of mold Garett’s cookin’ up fish Josh is making a wish For no bears to eat us while we sleep. Next day we’re alive (few) but not much rest. Comstock was tossing and turning Ted thought he was hearing The sound of something making a hiss OK. Time for some llama piss (Oh yeah) Time to hike, but there’s a bear. Eating a dear. Everybody wants around.
But RyMo and Andy, front-row seats We hike some more. People getting hungry. People getting fussy. Todd won’t let us stop until the look at spot that is money. (What a jerk!) We find a camp site that looks a little sketchy Fire ring’s on a hill and next to a dry tree Dip at the falls: froze off our balls Back at our campsite just sitting around chillin’ And who comes around, just a grouse named Dylan We sat by the fire til’ the sun went down We shared some stories. We shared some Mezcal. Todd got weepy Everyone got sleepy Next day we’re hiking back and missing the fridge Whoops Josh dropped, his pole off the bridge White worms at the lake and then the gas station Gatorade in a can and egg salad sandwichen’ Back in the warm valley and sittin’ on the deck Sipping on cold ones and sayin’ what the heck We shower and walk to the Mountain Room Restaurant At the high roller table that John Muir and Teddy Roosevelt probably ate at. RyMo sampled like twelve glasses of wine while we watched in wonder. So many apps. So many steaks. So many desserts. So many dudes. Gary announced “I am officially hamboned.” We shut the place down and walked out like heroes. Slept in soft beds, dreaming of zeroes Except for when Ish drove that motorcycle through Josh and Cole’s room (That was so loud) Next day fatty breakfast at the Ahwahnee no fakin’ Only had about ten pounds of bacon We hugged some hugs and said good bye.
