Grace Got Me

Lyrics

[Intro] Yeah, still standing Grace got me [Verse 1] Mama kept a verse by the kitchen sink Bills on the table, still found room to think Bus ran late, had to walk through the cold Kept one small promise, kept my heart from going stone My old friends ask if I changed my lane I say I changed what I was chasing, not my name I know the block where the sirens cut the night Still I choose a better step when I get it right [Chorus] I was down, but I ain't down alone When the road gets rough, I know where to go Hands up, head clear, let the hard days pass God kept a place for me when I couldn't see past I got faith in my chest, got my feet on the ground Still got love for my people, still I won't back down [Verse 2] Corner store clerk knows the sound of my shoes Knows I came up short, knows I still paid my dues My little cousin says, "Show me how to rise" So I tell him truth and let him see it in my eyes No crown, no act, just a heart being changed Grace ain't a shortcut, but it carried my weight When my temper talks loud, I breathe, then I pray Try to leave a little hope where I walked today [Chorus] I was down, but I ain't down alone When the road gets rough, I know where to go Hands up, head clear, let the hard days pass God kept a place for me when I couldn't see past I got faith in my chest, got my feet on the ground Still got love for my people, still I won't back down [Bridge] If you lost your way, you can start right here If your hands still shake, you can bring that fear We don't have to fake like the hurt ain't real There's a door held open, there's a hope to feel [Final Chorus] I was down, but I ain't down alone When the road gets rough, I know where to go Hands up, head clear, let the hard days pass God kept a place for me when I couldn't see past I got faith in my chest, got my feet on the ground Still got love for my people, still I won't back down [Outro] Still standing Grace got me
