Three Tickets to Absolutely Nowhere

Lyrics

**[Intro — Spoken, Car Engine Starting]** All right, everybody, get in! No, Dominic, we're not calculating the fuel efficiency. Amelia, yes, we can stop for Starbucks. Allan, stop eating that! ...And we're off! **[Verse 1]** I've got a teenage engineer Who's smarter than a NASA lab He'll explain the laws of physics While I search for my handbag Dominic's got that quiet humor And a look that says, "You tried" He can solve a logic problem Then destroy me with one line And Amelia's got opinions Oh, that girl was born to lead She'll have a thousand different feelings And know exactly what they mean She's got a heart as big as Jersey And a basketball to throw And if something feels unfair Believe me, everybody's gonna know! **[Pre-Chorus]** We've got no particular destination And absolutely no good plan Just a half-charged phone, some snacks And my two favorite humans! **[Chorus]** Three tickets to absolutely nowhere Windows down and music loud We could take a wrong turn anywhere And make a memory somehow We'll stop for coffee, chase the sunshine Find a place we've never been And if the world's a little crazy We'll just laugh and do it all again Oh, three tickets to absolutely nowhere No perfect map or guarantee But there's nowhere in this universe I'd rather be than with my two crazies! **[Verse 2]** Remember California, Dominic? Those Blue Angels shook the sky We were looking for the Hollywood sign While adventure passed us by Some stories aren't the polished kind You'd put inside a frame But they're the ones you talk about And somehow laugh at anyway Then there's Amelia with her bicycle And Allan running near She'll turn a simple afternoon Into the highlight of my year We've got basketball and road trips And a thousand little stops And an unofficial family rule That good adventures need good snacks! **[Chorus]** Three tickets to absolutely nowhere Windows down and music loud We could take a wrong turn anywhere And make a memory somehow We'll stop for coffee, chase the sunshine Find a place we've never been And if the world's a little crazy We'll just laugh and do it all again **[Bridge — Chiptune Instrumental Begins]** One kid builds the future One kid feels the world And I'm their slightly chaotic mother Just trying to keep up with both! Dominic says, "That makes no sense." Amelia says, "That's not fair!" I say, "Can someone find my phone?" It's in my pocket right there! And Allan's probably stealing socks While I pretend I've got control We might not be a normal crew But normal's not our goal! **[Final Chorus — Full Brass]** Three tickets to absolutely nowhere Every mile a little wild I've got a boy becoming a man And one extraordinary girl And someday when they're older With a million places left to see I hope they smile remembering Those ridiculous days with me We'll stop for coffee, chase the sunshine Let the whole world spin around Because happiness is sometimes Just the people riding with you now! **[Outro — Spoken]** Okay, who's hungry? ... No, we are NOT driving another hour for chicken nuggets! ...Unless they're really good.
