God of the Broken

Lyrics

[Intro] When the night is long, You stay When my courage fades, You remain [Verse 1] I kept a folded prayer beside my bed A little paper worn along the edge Mama wrote, “Child, lift your eyes above” I learned to stand by leaning into love [Pre-Chorus] Through every doubt, through every mile Your mercy meets me where I am [Chorus] God of the broken, God of the brave You are the hand that reaches through the waves Jesus, my shelter, my strength, my song When I am weak, You carry me on Hallelujah, I’m held in Your hands Faith like a fire that rises again [Verse 2 – Rap] I’ve had hard days, had the bills stacked high Had a head full of questions and a tired reply Still You met me in the hallway, right there by the door Not with thunder, just peace I had never known before I was counting my failures like stones in a sack You said, “Come as you are,” and You carried them back Now I walk with a purpose, though the road may bend Grace wrote a new beginning where I thought it would end [Pre-Chorus] Through every doubt, through every mile Your mercy meets me where I am [Chorus] God of the broken, God of the brave You are the hand that reaches through the waves Jesus, my shelter, my strength, my song When I am weak, You carry me on Hallelujah, I’m held in Your hands Faith like a fire that rises again [Bridge] If the mountain stands before me If the valley hides the way I will trust the One who knows me I will praise You through the gray [Choir] You are faithful, You are faithful You are with us, You are near [Final Chorus] God of the broken, God of the brave You are the hand that reaches through the waves Jesus, my shelter, my strength, my song When I am weak, You carry me on Hallelujah, the whole church will sing Hope for the weary, peace for the grieving Hallelujah, I’m held in Your hands Faith like a fire that rises again [Outro] You carry me on You carry me on Amen
