Snowflakes in His Hair

Lyrics

Verse 1 You’re waiting by the cinema, Your collar turned up high. The Christmas lights turn rosy When I catch your smiling eyes. You say, “Come closer, baby,” Like you’ve waited all the year. I had something sweet to tell you, But your smile makes it disappear. Your scarf is soft against my cheek, Your nose is cold on mine. I brush a snowflake from your fringe; You kiss me one more time. Chorus There are snowflakes in his hair, And I’m reaching out to touch them. He keeps leaning in to kiss me Before I get to brush them. With the Christmas lights around us, Let December take its time. There are snowflakes in his hair, And his hand is warm in mine. Verse 2 We pause beside a bakery; They’re switching off the lights. You catch our faces in the glass And pull me close beside you. “Daddy, smile,” I say, still laughing, As I try to take a shot. But you kiss me halfway through it; That’s the picture that I’ve got. A little blurred, a little pink, Your hair all windswept white. I save it as my favorite Before we say goodnight. Chorus There are snowflakes in his hair, And I’m reaching out to touch them. He keeps leaning in to kiss me Before I get to brush them. With the Christmas lights around us, Let December take its time. There are snowflakes in his hair, And his hand is warm in mine. Bridge At your door, you find a little box, A pink bow neatly tied. “An early Christmas present,” You say, looking almost shy. A silver key is waiting there; You place it in my hand. “Come over any time, baby.” I kiss you for an answer. Final Chorus There are snowflakes in his hair, Melting underneath my fingers. We’re halfway through the doorway, But I want this kiss to linger. You say, “Baby, come inside.” I say, “One more second here.” There’s a new key in my pocket And a snowflake in his hair.
